Good architectural lighting is about visual comfort and materiality. The light source should feel intentional, soft, and integrated into the architecture, not like a strip of exposed electronics stuck to a surface. Diffusion matters.
Here is a list of places to correctly install a tape light in your home:
-placed on top of cabinets or shelving, aimed up at ceiling
-under bed, aimed at floor (as long as it is not a glossy reflective material)
-mounted to back of TV, aimed at wall
-mounted in channel with lens under cabinets aimed at counter below
-mounted in headboard, aimed to wall behind or grazing up wall
