Description
Circadian rhythms are the internal 24-hour cycles that regulate sleep, hormone production, alertness, digestion, and even mood. For thousands of years, humans followed the natural rhythm of the sun: bright blue-rich daylight during the day, warm firelight after sunset.
When we dim the lights and shift toward warmer color temperatures in the evening, we signal to the nervous system that it’s safe to slow down. Warm, low-level light reduces stimulation to the eyes and brain, helping support melatonin production and easing the body out of its “fight or flight” state.
Bright overhead lighting late at night can keep the brain alert and activated. But softer, warmer lighting creates a sense of calm, intimacy, and restoration — almost like a visual cue for the body to exhale.
