I’ve wanted to release a song in French for a long time - it’s my first language - but I knew I didn’t want to rush it. When I decided to create a French version of Call Me Anytime, I was certain of one thing: a direct translation wouldn’t feel natural. The original song lives in a certain rhythm and emotional space, and I didn’t want to simply translate the words - I wanted to capture the feeling.
So while the mood is the same, the French version says many different things (see direct translation below). It tells its own story, shaped by how emotion flows in that language. It isn’t a literal translation - it’s a reimagining that stays true to the heart of the song.
Releasing this version feels personal and full-circle. Singing in French brings a different texture to the emotion, and I’m proud of how it stands on its own while still carrying the spirit of Call Me Anytime.

Ça faisait longtemps depuis que je voulais produire une chanson en français - ma langue maternelle - mais je savais que je ne voulais pas le faire à moitié. Quand j’ai décidé d’adapter Call Me Anytime en français, j’étais certain d’une chose : une traduction mot à mot ne sonnerait jamais juste. Ma chanson originale vit dans un certain rythme, une certaine émotion, et je ne voulais pas simplement traduire les paroles - je voulais en capter l’essence.
Si vous lisez les paroles, vous verrez que même si l’ambiance reste la même, je dis beaucoup de choses différemment. La version française raconte sa propre histoire, façonnée par la manière dont les émotions se vivent et se disent dans notre langue. Ce n’est pas une traduction, c’est plutôt une réinterprétation fidèle à l’esprit de la chanson.
Sortir cette version me touche particulièrement. Chanter en français donne une autre couleur à mes émotions, et je suis vraiment fier que cette chanson puisse exister ainsi, à sa manière, tout en gardant l’esprit de Call Me Anytime.
