The ACM Nominations came out this morning, and some things jump off the page. Right off the bat… you gotta go pretty far down before you see Carrie Underwood’s name. Only one nomination for Carrie, and it’s for the song with Cody Johnson; no female vocalist, no Entertainer nod for Carrie. I think that’s notable.
Also, Ella Langley up for both Female Vocalist and New Female Vocalist in the same year? Nobody has done that since… guess who? Taylor Swift in 2008.
If Old Dominion win Group, they will break Rascal Flatts’s record for most wins in that category, except look who’s back in the category after not being there for 8 years. Rascal Flatts.
Most notably completely absent? No Miranda, no Keith Urban, and no George Strait, despite all putting out an album in 2024.
And finally, the two elephants in the room, no Beyonce, which I’m sure she’s fine with, because I’m sure she’s tired of the hassle, and no Zach Bryan, which I’m sure he’s fine with too, because in his own words…
“I don’t want to be a country musician…”
…so I say let’s stop trying to make him one.
