June, the start of summer, has so many opportunities for great harvests. And even before they happen, it's good to think ahead, so that you can resow and replant. New vegetables grow rapidly and I want to ensure that beds stay full, for harvests continuing right into autumn, even winter.
The no dig method works brilliantly to enable this. There is for example, no need to rotate or to worry about soil fertility. You can slot in new seeds and plants wherever you see space for them. In this mid-June garden tour at Homeacres, I share what's growing now, from carrots, beetroot, onions, cabbage and kohlrabi* to tomatoes, cucumbers, melons and aubergines in the polytunnel. You'll also see examples of succession planting, interplanting, compost making and how I keep beds productive throughout summer.

Good sowings in the second half of June include broccoli, cauliflower, chicory for radicchio, swede, beetroot, carrots, parsnips, salad onions, lettuce and more. When you have plants from earlier sowings of leeks and Brussels sprouts, they can go in after early potatoes, or between carrots.
The garden is growing rapidly now, with second sowings already underway, new plantings following early harvests, and undercover crops putting on impressive growth. June is one of the busiest months in the vegetable garden, but also one of the most rewarding.
