Finally the official P99 review by Nutnfancy. We have discussed it a couple of times before but I've never got one and reviewed it. That changes now.
This is a touchstone design that influenced many other pistols; you probably already own some. Lightweight, comfortable/adaptable ergonomics, low bore axis, lightweight, German manufacture, supreme quality, high accuracy, and the durability of a lifetime of use. I happy to report all these qualities were all intact as the production wrapped up.
Here we will look at the P99 OD FINAL EDITION replete with holster, collectible coin, and case. We rung it out and still come away mostly impressed with this proven combat pistol; it's still one of the best.
The P99, besides being a favorite European police gun for many agencies, inspired such designs at the Canik 55/TP9 series (shown!), H&K P30, and the H&K VP9. It's qualities remain ever popular with the combat pistol lovers; for instance the TP9 has become an all time best seller and leads the polymer 9mm market https://youtu.be/kYmq37o_zkk.
The P99's follow-on is the PPQ and as I've reviewed here https://youtu.be/HcV7l4AjeXk, it's even better and will always been considered "the sniper's pistol" in TNP. And of course I'll have to circle back and tell you how disappointed I am/was that was fired from being Bond's companion. The PPK is cute but no match for the combat abilities of the P99!
