IRCTC Aadhaar Linking and Authentication
From 1st July 2025
Only users whose IRCTC accounts are linked with Aadhaar (or Virtual ID) will be allowed to book tatkal tickets on the IRCTC website or app. From 15th July 2025, Aadhaar-based OTP will be required for every tatkal booking – online.

Agent Booking Restrictions
Agent bookings will be blocked during the first 30 minutes of the tatkal window to keep tickets available for genuine passengers:
AC Class: 10:00 am-10:30 am
Non-AC Class: 11:00 am-11:30 am
📋 How to Link your Aadhaar with IRCTC
Log in to IRCTC mobile app.
Select Account option → Next, select "Authenticate User"
Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar or VID, then click Send OTP.
Enter the OTP sent to the mobile number registered with your Aadhaar and submit.
Once verified, your account will appear as “Aadhaar Verified”
You can also link Aadhaar for passengers on your master list to expedite future bookings.
Benefits and Monthly Ticket Limits:
The Aadhaar linked IRCTC account will be eligible for 24 Tatkal tickets per month.
Without Aadhaar, the limit is only 12 tickets per month
This change is aimed at improving fairness in the booking process and cracking down on agents and bots.
🧾What about linking PAN?
Linking PAN to Aadhaar is a separate income tax requirement.
Aadhaar authentication will be required for new PAN applications from 1 July 2025, Existing PAN holders will have to link Aadhaar by 31 December 2025 to keep PAN valid.
👉 This PAN-Aadhaar link does not directly affect IRCTC, but it is necessary for tax compliance if you need a PAN.
