In Japan's Kanagawa Prefecture, video producer Takashi ‘Ryu’ Harada and graphic designer Nodoka ‘Kamado’ Miyamoto have turned their compact rental apartment into a warm, character-filled home that reflects their creativity and resourcefulness. Named Yoshinani, an old Japanese word meaning "whatever works", the home celebrates collecting, making, and surrounding yourself with objects that tell a story. From magnetic storage and DIY lighting to movable shelving, flexible furniture, and a former wardrobe turned home office, every corner of the apartment reflects the couple's playful approach to living small. Designed as much for hosting friends as for everyday life, thoughtful decorating, practical life hacks, and meaningful objects make the compact rental feel warm, personal, and uniquely their own.
