Description
Singing wth power and intensity will bring up all of your insecurities about being heard, perceived as loud, arrogant and taking up space.
And that’s a GOOD thing.
This is something in you that’s likely causing constriction, hesitation and regret in your life and you get to transform it through singing (if you choose to).
.
Instead of letting your inner critic keep your wheel spinning in frustration, take a moment to recognise that there’s a reason why your body sets off an alarm when you’re singing with strength and volume.
It wants to protect you from losing a sense of love, safety and belonging.
It doesn’t understand that you’re an adult now who can navigate this challenging terrain much better than when you were young (when you were likely either scolded for being loud and expressive or praised for being quiet and compliant).
.
It’ll take some time to expand your capacity to experience the sensation in your body and the questioning of “Am I too much?” as you increase your volume and power when you sing.
And the ways you protect yourself (vocal tension, holding the breath, hesitating at the onset) will likely double when you perform.
That’s okay (and normal).
.
The best thing you can do is allow your nervous system to adapt, allow the story to shift at its own pace and start to look for moments where you ENJOY the bigness of your voice.
You are not too much.
You just learned that being less was the safer option.
Now you get to make a new choice. ❤️
