I ordered 6 live butterfly chrysalises, but two arrived without the silk attachment butterflies need to hang and properly develop their wings while hatching.
Using extra silk from another chrysalis attachment point, I carefully reattached them so they could emerge safely.
A few days later… one hatched early.
Watching a butterfly unfold and pump fluid through its wings in real time was one of the coolest biology moments I’ve ever seen.
Also yes… I’m still growing a sweet potato in water on my counter 🌱
