Muskies often follow your lure right up to the boat and then turn away. The fix is the figure 8. Stick your rod tip in the water and swing the lure in a big figure 8 to trigger a strike at the side of the boat. Guides on Lake of the Woods say about 80% of their muskie bites come this way. Last night one crew didn't even see a fish following. It showed up mid figure 8 and bit.
