Here is how it worked for me this year. I started with an idea, home sweet home, along with a color story and sugared fruit. Then I found two hero pieces that I absolutely loved. The first is this beautiful avocado green throw pillow that has a mix of other colors woven into it, and the second is a gorgeous spray with sugared fruit on it. Once I had those two pieces, the rest of my theme had a place to start. ✨
When I went to market I walked around with my pillow and my spray in hand and pulled colors straight from them. If something did not talk to those two pieces, it did not come home with me. That is how you get a space that feels layered but still connected, because everything is quietly speaking to the same few colors. It keeps you from impulse buying and it makes every decision so much easier. 😂
