Description
Security at Saruni Basecamp in the Naboisho Conservancy is led by local Maasai and Samburu guards like Dorobo Sakut. Operating with deep environmental respect, our guards use traditional generational knowledge to monitor wildlife and ensure guest safety without harming the animals. Currently, 86% of our 420 team members come from these indigenous communities, integrating native wisdom into modern conservation.
Dorobo has been an integral part of the Saruni Basecamp tapestry for 22 years. Long before he stood watch over our guests, he was shaped by the forest. He learned to read the land the way one might read a beloved book, eventually guiding walking safaris through the conservancy. Today, he walks our perimeter with intention. He was never formally trained for this job; rather, the environment taught him vigilance, patience, and instinct.
Discover what it means to move with the landβs rhythm, rather than against it.
