Description
Are you getting ready for your very first honey harvest? In this video, we share helpful tips to make harvesting from your hive as easy and successful as possible!
When deciding when to harvest, some beekeepers prefer the fall, while others wait until spring to ensure their bees have plenty of food for the winter. It is always best to leave all the honey in the hive during their first year so the colony has the best chance of survival.
When you are ready to harvest, you will need a few basic tools like your hive tool, a smoker, and a bee brush. We explain how to easily clear bees from your boxes using escape boards. For foundationless hives, you can harvest your honey in two ways. You can use a bucket strainer to crush and strain the comb, or you can make delicious cut comb honey with a simple comb cutter.
If you are ready for your harvest, we have exactly what you need.
