A young officer attached to the 9 Garhwal Rifles (Bhairav Battalion), Captain Chaurasia made the ultimate sacrifice on 20 March 2026 during a routine training exercise, embodying the Army’s ethos of “Never Leave a Man Behind” and “Service Before Self.”
Captain Prashant Kumar Chaurasia, aged 25–26, hailed from Zamania town in Ghazipur district, Uttar Pradesh. He completed his primary education at St. Mary’s School in Zamania before being selected for the 140th course of the National Defence Academy in 2022. His journey from a modest hometown to the rigorous training at the NDA and subsequent commissioning into the Indian Army reflected a deep commitment to national service.
