Harvests of Courgettes & Multi-sown Beetroot

How to look after your courgette/zucchini plants, so that they are easier to harvest from and live for a longer time. By removing the older lower leaves each week, harvesting becomes easier and the plants stay tidy and productive for longer. Removing unwanted side shoots also helps prevent oversized marrows developing at the base of the plant.

These plants went in straight after turnips had finished in early May.

The two beetroot are Flaming Barrel, and Chioggia. They were sown early April and transplanted late April, between garlic. Both are multi-sown, allowing you to harvest one beetroot at a time without disturbing the others.
