Ophélie Gaillard explore ici le violoncelle comme une voix humaine fragile mais persistante. Entourée de jeunes talents et d’artistes qu’elle accompagne depuis des années, Ophélie Gaillard partage ici une expérience de transmission et de collaboration. Prayers est un chemin pour rassembler, consoler et offrir un espace de réflexion dans des temps troublés.
Le violoncelle se fait tantôt confident avec Philip Glass (Songs and Poems), tantôt plainte avec Valentin Silvestrov (Lacrimosa). Il conduit à la méditation avec Jean-François Zygel, à l’extase avec Hildegarde von Bingen. En quatuor, il tisse des mélodies avec Bloch et s’élance avec Arvo Pärt. En octuor, les violoncelles déploient du grave à l’extrême aigu la mélopée infinie de Barber et le son devient souffle.
De la solitude au partage, du murmure au cri collectif, Prayers tente un récit commun, ouvre la perspective d’un espace de paix fidèle à la pensée de Pablo Casals : « La musique chasse la haine chez ceux qui sont sans amour. Elle console ceux qui pleurent. »

The cello becomes a confidant in Philip Glass’s Orbit, a lament with Valentin Silvestrov’s Lacrimosa. It leads to meditation with Jean-François Zygel and to ecstasy with Hildegard von Bingen. In quartet, it weaves lines with Barber and Bloch, and rises towards light with Arvo Pärt. From solitude to communion, from whisper to collective cry, Prayers seeks to tell a shared story and to open the possibility of a space for peace — faithful to the words of Pablo Casals: “Music drives hatred away from those who are without love. It consoles those who weep.”
