Obviously lizards cannot eat rice with chopsticks but it is perfectly consistent with the tongue-in-cheek humor of this channel: to underscore a point. We have a lot of fun on Reptile Channel. Point being a monitor lizard--an obligate carnivore--is taking rice; also, highly intelligent as seen in video.
We theorize why.

On October 23, 2017 an Asian Water Monitor (Varanus salvator) takes a frozen-thawed feeder squirrel. Also wild/feral feeder rodents which are prevalent at the site.
In response to viewers wanting us to comment on Kevin McCurley's 'spider ball python' and its problem with wobble, we decided instead, in this video, to comment on a more exigent situation of an animal under his "care" and will create a video on the python fiasco at a later time.
New England Reptile Distributors has a troubling reputation for questionable business ethics. This video is only one example. Another example is Kevin McCurley's 'spider ball python' and its proclivity for a genetic neurological condition known colloquially in the reptile hobby as "wobble". Kevin McCurley knew the snake had a neurological condition, but putting ethics aside, bred the animal causing a geometric expansion of neurological disorders in captive ball pythons--an already popular snake--and as a result a firestorm of criticism is being fired against him and his company, New England Reptile Distributors.

Lizards and the T&R feral cats (which we had spayed and neutered) help take care of the populations. About 15 to 25% of wild rodents at the site are fancy/feeder varieties on average throughout the year; as the seasons cool we find them significantly less represented than the traditional darker more established varieties. We believe the light coloration of the fancy/feeders are being selected out of population due to contrasting coloration relative to environment, like an albino deer in a biome that includes wolves.
