Guest House | issue 2
This issue starts on a whim, a spontaneous father son skate trip up California’s Highway 395. We stop at parks tucked into the mountains, meet strangers, crash on hills, and talk about life along the way.
One of our most meaningful stops is at the home of professional skateboarder and YouTuber Garrett Ginner, who recently left LA to build a new life in the mountains. We talk with him about burnout, chasing balance, and what happens when your passion turns into pressure. His story and his skatepark made a lasting impression.
From there, the road leads us into quiet forests, alpine lakes, and simple rituals of self care: cold plunges, acupuncture, walking barefoot on the earth. This trip becomes more than just a skate mission, it’s a reflection on the power of stillness and the creative spark waiting to return when you slow down enough to notice it.
Along the way, we reconnect with past joys (like sliding down a hill on a block of ice), interview a longtime tattoo artist about the freedom of creative work, and explore the rediscovery of forgotten passions, like drawing flipbooks that were once hidden in the back of a high school notebook.
It’s about finding wonder in small places. And remembering that healing, creativity, and connection don’t always live in the big moments, but in the quiet ones between.
