Description
A new Gallup poll may have dealt a significant blow to one of the central claims in the News Plaintiffs' lawsuits against OpenAI and Microsoft.
The New York Times and others sued OpenAI, claiming that ChatGPT harms the market by users getting their news from AI. But Gallup's latest survey shows otherwise: only a small percentage of Americans rely on AI tools for news, while traditional news websites, television, social media, and even radio remain far more popular sources.
If AI isn't replacing news organizations to any meaningful extent, that could spell the death for their "market dilution" theory!
Gallup's findings also show that the public doesn't trust AI-generated news, and many Americans remain skeptical of AI-assisted journalism.
