From Nov 2017, this is probably the best climb I have ever done, it had everything. Class 4 scrambling on solid granite getting progressively steeper until the crux Yellow Tower, 5.7/5.8 YDS. Snow/ice/rock on the grey tower leading to a snowy corniced Mushroom Ridge, to c3 and a 400m snow face at 60degrees. Best view of the entire Khumbu from the top, the Nuptse/Lhotse wall is massive, and guards Everest peeking over the top.
The top of Ama Dablam is the same height as the base of the Lhotse Face on Everest, where most people start using oxygen these days. It's therefore a good test for Everest in my opinion, although nothing can really prepare you for the Death Zone.
