Hello, in today's video I will show why you do not use Bleach to clean wood. I had seen many sites including from woodworkers saying using bleach to clean wood is safe and won't affect color. I think this is bad advice and I show why here.
Even if the wood is sealed by Poly any fails in coverage either initially or with wear and age will lead to discoloration of the wood in those areas and likely would need complete sanding and refinishing to fix.
Additionally many woods are finished with waxes or oils which not only may give the bleach a better chance of getting into the wood but also those waxes and oils may be stripped by the bleach and/or oxidized and discolored again possibly ruining the wood without refinishing.
