Currently riding a wave of popularity, Dilby is a testament to hard work and dedication. Raised in New Zealand on the classic sounds of house and techno, his move to Berlin has been the springboard to global stardom. Signed to a wide array of amazing labels, his all-concuring crossover sound is at home on seminal House imprints such as 8bit, Simma Black and King Street Sounds as it is on high performing melodic labels like UV and the mighty Selador.
The Dilby sound is musically rich, deeply groovy and devastating to a dancefloor, and this triptych is no exception. Opening the EP with 'Oxytocin', Deep, subby kicks and a gnarly bass provide a techy foundation for the ear candy one shots and percussive e-moments to shine. Deep, groovy and perfect for the warm-up as much as the early hours.
Next, 'Body Talk' is a more subtle vibe. Classically progressive, the groove takes its time to build, adding tension throughout. And that patience is rewarded in the punch-the-air breakdown. Finally, 'Drift Through Space' rounds out a solid EP with a deep, satisfying groover razor-focused on the dancefloor. Rubbery bass and sparse percussion create a spacey mid-set beast that bristles with melodics and creativity. The perfect conclusion to a masterclass in ebb and flow.
