The fifth of six on-screen pairings of Dick Powell and Ruby Keeler, directed by Frank Borzage, who had previously directed them in the Oscar-nominated "Flirtation Walk" (1934). A successful crooner who doesn't want to join the Navy decides to prove to his father, a Navy admiral, that he has what it takes to make it in the fleet. He has no real interest, but is persuaded by his girlfriend to take it seriously. Dick Powell performed the song, "Don't Give Up The Ship". This is one of DIck and Ruby's most romantic movies, next to "Flirtation Walk".
