Märtini Brös is one of Berlin's most playful dance acts, a duo that performed live with guitars and electronic instruments and sang in a mix of German and English. Flash arrived on their 2002 debut album Pläy and became one of the tracks people remember them by.
For their twentieth anniversary in 2019, Poker Flat gathered a fresh round of remixes and Flash went to Michael Mayer. Few people have shaped German house as long or as quietly as Michael, who co founded Kompakt in Cologne the same year the Brös first got together and spent the decades since defining that city's warm, melodic sound. His 606 version pulls Flash around and towards the dancefloor. Two Berlin originals, a Cologne icon and a track that stands out. That’s what makes it our classic of the week.
