Description
Is it permissible to lie, forge documents, or cheat a non-Muslim government?
In this clip, Abu Mussab Wajdi Akkari explains an important Islamic principle that many people misunderstand. The fact that a government is non-Muslim does not give Muslims permission to engage in fraud, deception, or dishonesty.
A Muslim is accountable before Allah for his own actions, regardless of the actions of others. Islam commands us to uphold our agreements, fulfill our trusts, and avoid lying and cheating—even when dealing with non-Muslims.
The Qur'an teaches believers to honor their covenants and not betray those with whom they have agreements unless they are the first to violate them. Islam does not accept the idea that "the ends justify the means."
As Muslims, our honesty, integrity, and fear of Allah should distinguish us wherever we live.
