Description
Australia imports more than 250,000 cubic metres of veneer lumber, much of it from China, despite having its own timber resources. Now scientists and manufacturers are working to prove Australian timber can compete with overseas imports.
Researchers are exploring a process that peels wood into thin sheets to create plywood and laminated veneer lumber. The technique can produce up to six times as much usable timber from the same logs compared to traditional sawing methods. #ABCLandline
