I take apart a 1969 Briggs and Stratton wind up type starter off a 3 or 3-1/2 horsepower lawnmower engine. I watched a Taryl Fixes All vid where he visits H&R Pumps in Joliet Illinois , and was very impressed with all of the old /antique Briggs parts Garrie has there. He made me a really good deal for 3 of these old wind up starters. I specifically wanted a broken one to take apart, so Garrie sent me 2 broken ones and one working starter! In this video i show how to take the wind up starter apart, and how it is built inside. The spring is about 0.050" thick, 0.75" wide and approximately 120" long.
