Bram Stoker's Dracula (Master System) Playthrough

Description

A playthrough of Sony Imagesoft's 1993 license-based action-platformer for the Sega Master System, Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Played on the hard difficulty level.

This PAL-exclusive Master System version of Bram Stoker's Dracula released at the end of 1993, right around the same time as its NES (https://youtu.be/SPUbmL6MN6o), Game Boy (https://youtu.be/3oa9z8V8fWg), and Game Gear counterparts were hitting store shelves across Europe and North America.

It's the same game across the 8-bit consoles and handhelds, and the Master System stands up nicely to the NES game. It has all the same levels, secrets, and boss fights. The graphics are *much* better thanks to the boost in color, and the music is as brilliantly jarring and oppressive as it is on the Nintendo machines, and it even includes a nifty speech sample on the title screen! It plays well, too. The controls are a little stickier than the NES version's, with Jonathan requiring an insistent press of the opposite direction on the d-pad to get him to turn around, but you get used to that after a few minutes.

I love the NES and Game Boy versions of Bram Stoker's Dracula, and I'm happy to now be able to say the same about the Master System port. It's a great 8-bit platformer with an excellent soundtrack and some fun challenges to overcome.
