BMW R 1300 R – Urban Test Ride & First Impressions

Here is a video of my test ride of the BMW R1300R. I rode this motorcycle for 45 minutes. It's pretty hard, maybe even impossible, to evaluate comprehensively a motorcycle in such a short time, especially during this particular test ride which took place in urban area only. So, what I'm sharing here are just my first impressions.

Specifications in brief:
Flat-twin 'Boxer" engine, 1300cc, air&liquid-cooled
145 hp @ 7,750 rpm, 149 nm @ 6,500 rpm
6-speed gearbox, cardan shaft drive
2-part frame with load-bearing engine on main frame & bolted rear part
Upside-down fork, single-sided swing arm with Paralever
4-piston radial-mount brake calipers, with cornering ABS

17 liters (4.5 US Gal) fuel tank
17,000 euros in France, VAT included
10,000 km (6,000 mi) or 1-year maintenance interval

The motorcycle of my test ride has some extra features:
- Exclusive Style (775 euros), ie the Racing blue paint & dark chrome scheme;
- Comfort Package (675 euros), including heated grips & seat, and tire pressure control;
- Dynamic Package (1,770 euros), including quickshifter pro, riding mode pro, dynamic suspension adjustment, and sport brakes.
Total Price: 20,220 euros
