Puerto Rico features an interesting amalgamation of Spanish, African, Taíno, and American influences. It is almost like traveling internationally, but without actually leaving the United States. No passport is needed, only a driver's license. Puerto Rico is slightly smaller than Madison County, Montana (my home), but with 3.2 million people instead of 9,000 people. We enjoyed some beautiful weather, with highs averaging about 85ºF every day. We quickly learned that mornings are the best time to be at the beach, before it gets too hot in the afternoon!
