Associate Professor Faishal Ibrahim began his career at the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore before becoming an associate professor in real estate at the National University of Singapore. He entered politics in 2006 as one of the candidates in then-Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong's team that won Marine Parade GRC in a walkover. In May last year, Associate Professor Faishal was promoted to senior minister of state. He was also appointed acting minister-in-charge of Muslim affairs.
