Why do I prefer playing a 7-string over an 8-string?

For me, it's because I naturally use more of the fretboard.
Having one less string encourages me to explore higher up the neck, create wider melodic ideas, and think differently about how I write riffs. It pushes me to make the most of the notes I already have, rather than relying on an even lower register.

That's not to say 8-strings aren't incredible, they absolutely are, but I find the 7-string suits the way I write and play.
