Getting permission is probably the hardest part of metal detecting, and it's the question I'm asked more than anything else.
In this video, I take you with me as I pluck up the courage to knock on doors and ask for permission to detect on five different pieces of land.
If you've ever been too nervous to ask a farmer, you're definitely not alone. Will I come away with a brand-new permission, or will it be another polite "no"?
