🧂🐜 20 PESTS YOU CAN TACKLE WITH SALT! 🌿

Before you reach for expensive pest sprays, take a look in your kitchen cupboard! Ordinary salt can be used in a variety of ways to help deal with common household and garden pests.

In this video, I’m showing you 20 different pests and how salt can be used against them — from garden crawlers and insects to unwanted visitors around your home. 🏡🌱

Here are the 20 pests covered:

🐌 20. Slugs – salt can dehydrate them on direct contact.

🐚 19. Snails – direct spot treatment can work, but keep salt away from garden soil.

🐛 18. Cutworms – a salt barrier on a suitable non-soil surface can help deter them.

🪱 17. Millipedes – salt barriers can help discourage them from entering damp areas of your home.

🦂 16. Centipedes – a salt line around potential entry points can act as a deterrent.

🐜 15. House Ants – salt can disrupt their trails and discourage them from crossing.

🐜 14. Garden Ants & Ant Hills – salt can be used as a targeted treatment, particularly away from planted soil.

🕷️ 13. Spiders – salt barriers around gaps and entry points may help deter them.

🐛 12. Silverfish – salt can help create a barrier along areas where they travel.

🪲 11. Earwigs – salt barriers around hard surfaces can disrupt their routes.

🪰 10. Fruit Flies – a saltwater trap with dish soap can help catch them.

🪰 9. Houseflies – a saltwater trap with sugar and dish soap can attract and trap them.

🪳 8. Cockroaches – concentrated saltwater can be used as a supporting treatment when one is spotted.

🐜 7. Fleas – salt worked into carpet fibres can help dehydrate flea eggs and larvae before vacuuming.

🕷️ 6. Ticks – saltwater can help deal with ticks that have already been removed from skin or fur.

🪲 5. Japanese Beetle Grubs – a targeted saltwater treatment can be used on known grub-infested areas.

🐛 4. Cabbage Worms & Caterpillars – a diluted saltwater spray can be applied directly to pests.

🌿 3. Aphids – a very light, targeted saltwater spray can help knock back aphids.

🦟 2. Mosquito Larvae – measured salt can be used in certain stagnant water containers where no fish or beneficial organisms are present.

🦂 1. Scorpions – a traditional salt barrier around the perimeter of a property can act as a deterrent in areas where scorpions are a problem.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Salt may be natural, but that doesn't mean you should scatter it everywhere. Heavy salt use can damage soil, grass and plant roots, so use it carefully and target the pest rather than treating your entire garden.
