1990: Should gay sex be decriminalised? #Queer #LGBTQ #Archive #Queensland #EqualRights #Debate

ABC Australia Short 2 days ago

Description

In 1990, consensual sex between men was still a crime in the Sunshine State.

This debate on The 7.30 Report saw Queensland Association for Gay Law Reform chair Nick Ward face off against former National Party minister Yvonne Chapman over whether the laws should change.

The following year, Queensland became Australia's second-last jurisdiction to decriminalise homosexual activity.

It would be another 26 years before the age of consent was equalised.
