This is a stop-motion cutout short film I did for school recently. It was presented in front of my classmates yesterday, and it was posted on Twitter shortly after.
For this assignment, we had to look at some stop-motion works from a chapter of the book "A New History of Animation" by Maureen Furniss. My inspiration was the 1926 film The Adventures of Prince Achmed, which is the earliest available animated film. It used cutout silhouettes to create a look based on shadow theater performances. I used the style of that film along with the abstract design of the backgrounds (most noticeably with the clouds).
Admittedly, I wish I could have made this longer, but I had to juggle different school assignments so I had to keep this one short. Hopefully, I can make my next class projects longer.
This short was also posted on YouTube to show that I am not gonna stop posting animations on this channel. I have some fun stuff in the works on that front!
