These are some reasons why you shouldn’t get Micro locs :
1) The installation and maintenance fees do not fit within your budget. I am a firm believer that there is a stylist for every client. You may need to compromise on a few things, but you can certainly find the right person for you without breaking the bank. Most stylists who offer interlocking for micro locs charge a base price plus additional fees for high loc quantities, repairs, or the number weeks since your last appointment. I recommend doing a consultation to discuss all the details so you're not surprised when it's time to pay.
2) The style is incompatible with your lifestyle and schedule. If you can not consistently commit to a maintenance appointment every five to six weeks, this is not the style for you. Infrequent sessions result in lengthy appointments, which will cost you A LOT more. Also, the longer you wait, the more likely you are to need repairs or detoxes (if you don't shampoo regularly at home or use too much product).
3) No one in your area offers the interlocking service. Unless you are willing to travel for hours or out of state each time you need to book a session, this is not for you. Try as much as possible not to complicate your loc journey. Find a few locticians early so that if one is busy or doesn't fit with your schedule, you have a backup 😉. The alternative is to teach yourself interlocking for self retightenings.
4) You want a style that requires no maintenance. This is IMPOSSIBLE ‼️. Regardless of the locking method used at installation or the size of your locs, you will need to keep up with everything. Slacking isn't an option, especially for micro locs. As a test, I recommend twisting your hair and leaving it for at least 1 month. If you can handle that, you'll be okay.
5) You're expecting your locs to look, mature, and feel like others with a different density, texture, and length. Don't do it! Disappointment and buyer's remorse is so real, especially in today's society, where social media is flooded with numerous examples of "perfection."
