People devote large amounts of their lives to doing activities like chasing trophies in sports, climbing mountains, and speedrunning video games. In some cases, they make lots of money, or get exercise, or confidence, but they seem to do it even when there's very little money to be made, they're seated at a table, or it makes them feel miserable.
