Description
Via Rail is a national icon that connects Canadian communities using three different service categories: intercity, long-distance, and regional. Behind the scenes, the Crown corporation Via has been calling for help, as some of its more than 70-year-old trains are in dire need of replacement. The company that originally built the fleet is bankrupt, spare parts are harder to come by, and maintenance is growing more expensive by the year. And yet Via is mandated to maintain service.
