Description
The blue screen of death is blue because it the blue color was chosen by Microsoft Developer John Vert while he was working on Microsoft Windows NT on Windows 1993.
He chose the white on blue color because the boot screen for the MIPS machine he was using was white on blue, and the SLICK text editor he was using had a white on blue theme by default.
This allowed him to have a consistent experience while he was working Microsoft Windows NT code. Of course, he was not the only one working in Windows NT. But, he was one of the key reasons behind the choice.
While there blue screens prior to Windows NT, they weren't true blue screens, because they didn't have stop codes or other features. They were more like error messages.
