Why Are Sloths So Slow?

HowStuffWorks Short 9 months ago

Description

Sloths move so slowly that they usually trek no farther than 125 feet (38 meters) in a day. Due to their slow metabolism and diet of mostly leaves and fruit, they don't have a lot of leftover energy to expel, making their sluggish pace a survival technique.

They also only defecate every five to seven days on average and actually lose up to one-third of their body weight in a single movement!
