Every September, NBA 2K players buy the new game, purchase VC, grind builds, earn badges, unlock animations, and invest hundreds—sometimes thousands—of hours.
Then the next game releases, and everybody starts over like none of it ever happened.
In this video, Ghost and I break down several important questions:
How much of Take-Two’s revenue comes from microtransactions and recurrent spending? Would buying NBA 2K but refusing to continuously purchase VC make a difference? What would happen if a large portion of the community bought their initial build in September, then stopped spending for the remainder of the game cycle?
We also discuss Rich Sosa’s proposed MyPLAYER Legacy System: allowing loyal players to transfer one completed NBA 2K26 build into NBA 2K27 at a reduced overall, while still requiring upgrades, badges, and additional grinding.
The transfer graphic shown in this video is a community concept—not an officially announced NBA 2K27 feature.
Should NBA 2K reward returning players? Would you support one legacy build transferring into the next game at a 75–85 overall? And would you participate in a community-wide VC spending freeze?
