What would actually happen if cell phones and the internet went down for an entire week?
A major communications outage wouldn't just mean no Facebook, YouTube, texts or email. Modern banking, credit and debit cards, ATMs, gas stations, grocery stores, pharmacies, GPS navigation, emergency services and supply chains all depend on communications networks.
In this video, we walk through what could happen during a widespread communications outage, how quickly everyday services could be affected, and most importantly, how your family can prepare BEFORE it happens.
Could you buy groceries without a credit card? Get cash without an ATM? Navigate without cellular service? Contact your family? Get emergency information? Could your household go seven days without visiting a grocery store?
We'll also build a simple emergency preparedness plan for staying connected, informed, fed and functioning during an internet outage, cell phone outage, power outage or other major disruption.
Preparedness isn't about predicting exactly what will happen. It's about making sure your family can function when normal systems don't.
