Eva had a scheduled surgery to remove her spleen and a large cancerous mass from her liver on 10/29 at VCA with a soft tissue specialty surgeon. She was also scheduled to spend 2 days recovering in their ICU after. She’s had mild focal seizures in the past so she was on seizure watch. I even visited her 24 hours after surgery and she was perfect. But some time between 10/30-10/31 she had a stroke while in the VCA ICU that went unnoticed until I pointed out something was wrong when they tried to discharge her to me. They even examined her before discharge and said she was fine, meanwhile she had low oxygen, fluid in her lungs, and had a stroke. That’s when everything went downhill.
10 days and about $35,000 later, VCA discharged Eva to me to go on hospice as they claimed there was nothing more they could do for her.
I’m happy and blessed to say we proved them wrong, Eva is still here today with me and doing better and better every day.
