► In November 2025, George Smyth disappeared while on a solo expedition through Romania’s treacherous Bucegi Mountains. A keen hiker, George became disoriented when a severe blizzard and thick fog engulfed the high-altitude ridges near Bran Castle. Despite reporting his own disappearance to the authorities, and the subsequent discovery of his backpack containing unused survival gear, George remains missing in the deep snow. What has followed is an immense search effort across a hostile alpine landscape that continues to defy investigators.
