► On the morning of Sunday the 22nd of June, 2025, Monica Reza, a 60-year-old scientist, set out on a hike in the Angeles National Forest near Mount Waterman with two companions from her yoga group. At around 9:10 in the morning, her male hiking partner turned around and saw her smile and wave at him. He walked on. When he turned around not long after, she was simply gone. What followed was one of the largest search efforts Los Angeles County has ever mounted for a missing hiker, and then expanded into something even more unusual.
