i'd be lying if i said the time to pretend saltburn needledrop didn't influence the 2023 montage song choice. every year i write in my notes what songs i think the yearly montage should have. something that fits the energy surrounding me that year. written in march of 2023, time to pretend was already at the top of the list! the iconic first watching of saltburn with my friends in december at the end of the year that i will never forget solidified it. that was the only song 2023 needed. no other mixings, just extensions, to enjoy the moment a little longer.
