Viltrox AF 35mm F1.4 Pro Review | Tested at a Pro Football Match

Jay Soundo Review 2 days ago

Description

I didn't test the new Viltrox AF 35mm F1.4 Pro on a calm portrait shoot. I took it to a professional football match on a stormy evening, where most photographers on the touchline use 200–400mm lenses, to see whether its HyperVCM autofocus could keep up.

Almost any new lens looks fast and sharp when someone is standing still in front of you. Players who never stop moving, evening light and heavy rain are a much harder test of focus speed, tracking and weather sealing. I shoot professional football and use Viltrox lenses day to day, including on big commercial jobs, so I wanted to see how their newest Pro lens copes when conditions are against it.
