This week's Torah Portion explores one of the most foundational passages in all of Scripture—the Shema.
As Moses prepares Israel to enter the Promised Land, he warns that blessing can easily lead to forgetfulness. Centuries later, Yeshua confronts the religious leaders of Jerusalem with the same warning. How could those who knew the Scriptures best fail to recognize their Messiah?
In this teaching, we examine Matthew 23 and Mark 12 to uncover:
Why Yeshua called the scribes and Pharisees hypocrites.
The danger of religious pride and division.
Why accusations require two or three witnesses.
The true meaning of the Shema.
Why loving God with all your heart is still the greatest commandment.
If we fail to hear Moses, we will struggle to understand Messiah. But when we truly hear, love, and obey the Lord, everything else—including faith in Messiah—falls into its proper place.
